Facilities

Over the last few years facilities at Mill Yard have grown.

We offer stabling in airy loose boxes, setup in an "American Barn" style arrangement. 

Each stable has automatic drinkers to allow a permanent supply of fresh water at all times and wall mounted hay racks are available if required.

There is a large 60m x 40m floodlit sand arena which contains a full set of showjumps. 

The arena is normally divided in two which allows people to have room to practice their flat work or their jumping, with out the hassles of having to clear the arena between times. 

This also allows us to have the warm-up and competition areas in one arena at events. 

The floodlit arena is available for hire to individuals as well as to groups and clubs.

(Use of arena, including floodlights, is included in all livery packages.) 

Mill Yard also holds a superb cross country course, designed by renowned course builder Tony McManmon. 

The course has a range of 40 obstacles, from ditches to banks, water complexes to steps, this course has it all for riders to school over with each fence having a variety of heights to suit all levels of horses and riders. 

The cross country course is CURRENTLY CLOSED for hire.
 

Mill Yard now also has a separate lunging/turnout sand paddock as well as a large all weather gravel turnout area and a four horse walker.

Rules of use for Mill Yard Cross Country Course:

  • Hats - BSI Kite marked PAS015 or BS EN1384 must be worn at all times. when mounted, with the chinstrap fastened.  (No fixed peaks.)
  • A body protector must be worn at all times.
  • Proper riding footwear must be worn at all times when mounted. 
  • Anyone wearing muckers, wellies or trainers will be asked to dismount.
  • Everyone must read and sign rule book before entering onto cross country course.
  • No one must ride the cross country course unaccompanied.
  • All children aged 16 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Children aged 5 years old to 7 years old inclusive must be on a lead rein.
  • Children under the age of 5 years are not allowed to ride the cross country course.
  •  It is advised that riders have their own public liability and personal accident insurance.
  • Everyone must take reasonable care to avoid and prevent accidents occurring, and must obey the rules and instructions from owner and staff.
  • Report immediately any defects or problems with the jumps or the course.
  •  All dogs must be kept on leads at all times.

Prices

Livery Packages are available from £50 per week

All packages include    - Stable with automatic drinkers

                                        - Use of sandschool including floodlights
                                        - Individual all weather turnout paddocks
                                        - Summer grazing in individual paddocks (24/7 when weather allows)
                                        - Horsebox/trailer parking

                                                   - Morning skip out
                                                   - Rug Changes
                                                   - Turning out (on all weather whilst skipping out in winter)
                                                   - Bringing in, leg washing
                                                   - Evening skip out
                                                   - Weekly muck out
                                                   - Feeding evening feeds
                                                   - Organising farrier, vet for routine vaccinations etc when
                                                     required          
                                                   - Use of horse walker

    (Liveries have use of the horse walker)

Discounted rates of hire available for all Riding Clubs, Pony Clubs, Schools Teams etc wishing to use facilities.
