The new cross country course, designed by renowned course builder Tony McManmon, has a range of 40 obstacles, from ditches to banks, water complexes to steps, this course has it all with each fence having a variety of heights to suit all levels of horses and riders.
The cross country will be open every Sunday throughout the summer from 10.30am to 4pm for “Go-As-You-Please” or can also be booked for use any other time by appointment, weather permitting.

Rules of use for Mill Yard Cross Country Course "Go-As-You-Please":
- Hats - BSI Kite marked PAS015 or BS EN1384 must be worn at all times. when mounted, with the chinstrap fastened. (No fixed peaks.)
- A body protector must be worn at all times.
- Proper riding footwear must be worn at all times when mounted.
- Anyone wearing muckers, wellies or trainers will be asked to dismount.
- Everyone must read and sign rule book before entering onto cross country course.
- No one must ride the cross country course unaccompanied.
- All children aged 16 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Children aged 5 years old to 7 years old inclusive must be on a lead rein.
- Children under the age of 5 years are not allowed to ride the cross country course.
- It is advised that riders have their own public liability and personal accident insurance.
- Everyone must take reasonable care to avoid and prevent accidents occurring, and must obey the rules and instructions from owner and staff.
- Report immediately any defects or problems with the jumps or the course.
- All dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
Rules for "Two-Phase" Competitions:
- The Events will be judged under British Riding Club rules unless otherwise stated.
- All competitors must wear a protective helmet, manufactured to the minimum specifications. (PAS015, BSEN1384, SNELL E2001)
- Body Protectors must be worn for the Cross Country Phase.
- Proper riding footwear must be worn.
- Stopwatches must not be worn.
- Jewellery must not be worn (all body piercings must be removed).
- Long hair must be securely tied back.
- Medical Armbands must be worn for Cross Country Phase.
- It is the sole responsibility of the rider or a responsible adult to ensure tack and equipment is safe and suitable.
- Any competitor eliminated on the Cross Country Phase must leave the course immediately at a walk.
- The Organisers reserve the right to amalgamate classes’ dependant on numbers.
- If entries have to limited, this will be done on the basis of date of receipt, with the earliest getting priority.
- The Organisers reserve the right to deny entry to any competitor.
- It is advised that riders have their own public liability and personal accident insurance.
- Horses must be aged 4 years and over.
- Riders aged 5 years to 7 years must be on a lead rein. Riders under 5 years may not enter.
- Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
